How To Actually Build Profitable Blogs

Hi there,

If you’re building niche blogs then you probably want to read this…

I was sitting at my favorite Starbucks sipping my usual Iced Venti Americano the other day going over some old notes on marketing (in one of my older moleskin notebooks) in order to transfer some of them onto my laptop for potential future use.

Anyway, I was just wrapping up an entry into my beat up laptop when I got a call from a friend of mine (who I’ve been mentoring a bit in internet marketing).

While I won’t bore you with the details of the call, one question he asked stuck in my mind:

“What are some important considerations I need to have when creating a successful niche blog?”

Obviously there are a lot of little technical details to be aware of when setting one of these up, but when I really sat back and thought about it I could sum it up into 2 Major points.

The 2 Major Factors In Building A Successful Niche Blog:

1. Make Google Happy
2. Make the Visitor Happy

That’s it…

These 2 simple items will pretty much take care of what we want most:

Create a profitable niche blog.

Let me explain…

Item #1 is pretty obvious… it simply means that you follow the basics of:

a. Good on-site seo
b. Good site layout
c. Properly formatted content
d. Properly themed site

This along with link building (and item #2 below) will go a long way to getting you ranked well and getting traffic from organic search engines.

Item #2 ought to be pretty obvious as well. It refers to writing content that is:

a. ON TOPIC (relevant content),
b. Well-written and informative posts.
c. Content vs keyword match

By adhering to these 3 steps you can make visitors stay longer on your site, which in turn will lower bounce rates, which in turn will make Google happier, which will get you higher rankings, which… you get the idea.

(I’ll share with you my 6 simple steps to create winning content in a future post).

So, what does this mean?

It simply means that in order to generate a truly profitable blog, you need to think beyond just slapping up crappy content around keywords, and focus on the USER EXPERIENCE.

As a blogger, you need the visitor to feel that visiting your blog is worth their time AND that you provided them valuable information.

To create blogs that actually will make more than a few pennies a day, we need to take an active interest in the quality of the content and either learn how to write compelling content for your site, OR find someone who has an active interest in the topic and make them write for you.

In other words, you MUST control the quality of the content one way or another.

By controlling the USER EXPERIENCE you can increase the conversions on your site (doesn’t matter if it’s an AdSense focused site or an affiliate site).

Does this mean you have to write all of your own content?

Not at all.

While some of my more profitable sites are all written by yours truly (in niches where I have an active interest), most of my content is being outsourced.

So, it definitely possible to outsource.

But, one of the things I always make sure of is that the content is written by NATIVE English speakers… preferably writers who live in North American (since that’s where my target market is located).

This is important because you want them to be in tune with the slang or common language used in everyday conversations.

If you’re wondering where to find these writers?

Well, I’ve found some freelancers in the Warriors for Hire section on the Warrior Forum.

I’ve also found some decent writers on Fiverr who write on a regular basis for me now.

The downside of course is that you’ll have to test the writers… before deciding to fork out money, be sure you read the reviews from other customers as it can tell you a lot about their abilities.

Anyway… I could go on and on about this topic, so I’ll stop here while I’m still ahead. :)

Talk soon.

All the best,
Steven

PS – Alright… so if you have been building blogs and not seen much success, but finished this email and thought:

“I’ve heard this all before”

Then perhaps it’s time to take a second look at what and how you are building your current blogs.

It seriously can make all the difference between experiencing success or… not.
